Yashpal Sharma Career

Shortly after receiving his degree, he started working with the National School of Drama Repertory Company in Delhi. He stayed there for over two years until moving to Mumbai in 1997.

He made his big-screen debut with Govind Nihlani’s 1998 film Hazaar Chaurasi Ki Maa, which also gave him the chance to collaborate with Jaya Bachchan and Nandita Das. He also started to appear in mainstream films like Shool and Arjun Pandit. But the movie that originally made him well-known was Lagaan (2001), which was nominated for an Academy Award. He then made cameos in Ab Tak Chhappan and Gangajal (2003). He still performs on stage in Mumbai and frequently appears in the films of Prakash Jha and Shyam Benegal.

In the multilingual plays One on One by Rage Productions and Lakeerein, both of which were written by Gulzar and directed by Salim Arif, he co-starred with actor Lubna Salim. The same year, he made a significant cameo in Dev Anand’s Chargesheet, which turned out to be the famed actor’s last film before his death.

Sharma made his television comeback in 2014 by portraying Bhagwandas in the lead role of Neeli Chhatri Waale on Zee TV. He will have a significant role in the Rajen Kothari-directed film Das Capital. In the brief documentary The Facebook Generation, which was directed by Sahil Bhardwaj and made by Blue Strike Productions and Dev Samaj Modern School, he had a momentary cameo.
