Anandaraj Biography

Anandaraj Education

Anandaraj received his bachelor’s degree from the M.G.R. Government Film and Television Training Institute in Chennai. There is no other information about his education available besides the fact that he graduated.

Anandaraj Early Life

Anandaraj was born in Pondicherry, India, on November 10, 1958. He received his bachelor’s degree from the M.G.R. Government Film and Television Training Institute in Chennai. Due to his lifelong interest for movies, he spent much of his early years riveted to the screen. He decided to enrol in a film school as his next step after high school. He struggled to get work in the film business after graduating, but in 1988, he agreed to star with Prabhu and Sivakumar as the villain in Oruvar Vaazhum Aalayam.

Anandaraj Career

With 1988’s Oruvar Vaazhum Aalayam, starring Prabhu and Sivakumar, Anandaraj had to work hard to get his foot in the door; after that, in 1990, P. Vasu’s En Thangachi Padichava gave him his major break in all four south Indian languages. He co-starred with Prabhu in the Suresh Krishna-directed film Raja Kaiya Vacha (1990), where he once again played the good guy. He did, however, co-star in a number of films with Vijayakanth.

“That one gets popular being a villain, people around you normally pressure you to take the next step, and it was one of such moments when I accepted offers to play the main character,” Anand Raj remarked of his shift into hero roles. He appeared in Kaaval Nilayam, Thambi Oorukku Puthusu, Government Mappillai, Pokkiri Thambi, Kizhakku Veluthathchu, David Uncle, En Rajangam, Puthiya Aatchi, and My India after Palaivana Paravaigal.

Despite the fact that numerous directors gave him intriguing material, the movies’ box office performances were disastrous. Due to his rapid ascent to prominence in the 1980s, Anandaraj and R. Sarathkumar collaborated on a number of action movies. In the movies they performed in together, Anandaraj had a larger billing than Sarathkumar, but the latter struggled to retain his standing and finally fell back to small parts. Balakrishna (Muddula Mavayya), Vijayakanth (Pulan Visaranai), Chiranjeevi (Gang Leader), Rajinikanth (Baashha), Mammootty (Makkal Aatchi), R. Sarathkumar (Suryavamsam), and Vijay have all appeared alongside him on screen.

Years later, Anandaraj made a significant transition to the comic genre with Ramkumar’s 2014 comedy Mundasupatti, which had viewers in stitches. Due to his distinctive manner, which has made him a favorite of young directors who create eccentric roles for him to play, Anandaraj has gained a significant following among the younger generation of moviegoers.

Despite the fact that a villain is expected to have exaggerated reactions, director Prabhu Deva gave Anandaraj the part and instructed him to remain silent. Anandaraj worked hard for a year to lose almost 12 kilograms and achieve Prabhu Deva’s ideal appearance before he was signed to the Action Jackson movie series (2014). He became aware of the lizard tattoo on his head and realized he would need to adopt a new appearance for his part as a don in the movie.

He was chosen to star alongside Vijay Sethupathi and Nayanthara in the movie Naanum Rowdydhaan (2015). Anandaraj will still have complex goals and be complicated by the past even if he isn’t the main antagonist. In the 2017 movie Maragadha Naanayam, he plays the part of Twinkle Ramanathan. His most recent films include Katha Nayagan (2017), Sathya (2017), and Gulaebaghavali (2018). He’s almost perfect for the comedic villain role. Anandaraj received the Vikatan Award for Best Comedian in 2019 for his work in the movie Jackpot. He has expressed his displeasure with the director for how poorly his character in the 2019 film Bigil was handled in post-production.
