Premgi Amaran, an actor, singer, and music director, has an older brother named Venkat Prabhu. Gangai Amaran, a former director who is now a music director, is his father. His cousins Yuvan Shankar Raja, Karthik Raja, and singer Bhavatharini are all musicians and composers, as is his uncle Ilayaraaja, the music director. The following year, Prabhu co-starred with Sangeetha in the Gangai Amaren film Poonjolai, which was helmed by his father. Unfortunately, the movie was shelved midway through production, and subsequent attempts to revive and release the movie by the late 2000s proved futile. Prabhu and his friends S. P. B.
