Pathak was born in the Bihar state’s Bhojpur district. The young Mr. Pathak spent his early years in Dhanbad because his father was a police officer. He attended the residential school Vikas Vidyalaya, Ranchi, where he was a student until 1982. After enrolling at Allahabad University, he pursued his schooling there and in the US. Farley Richmond, his BFA programme advisor at Stony Brook University, also gave him the go-ahead to return to India in 1995 to work on Hindi theatre and film.

The Bhojpur district of the Indian state of Bihar serves as Pathak’s hometown. Pathak’s acting career included parts in several movies, including the comedies Khosla Ka Ghosla and Bheja Fry, while he was a student at Stony Brook University, a state university in New York. He rose to fame in 1999 thanks to his portrayal of Vinny on Hip Hip Hurray. He also served as the film’s producer for the drama Dasvidaniya, which followed an everyday man as he bid his loved ones farewell and passed away.
