Prior to finishing her schooling and working with various theatre companies in Singapore, she attended Lady Andal School in Chennai, India. After completing her studies, she obtained a bachelor’s degree in architectural design from the Parsons School of Design in New York City.

Kalyani is of Malayali ancestry; she was born to Malayali actress Lissy and Indian filmmaker Priyadarshan. Sidharth is the name of her elder brother.
Prior to finishing her schooling and working with various theatre companies in Singapore, she attended Lady Andal School in Chennai, India. She was also working as a summer intern at the Williamstown Theatre Festival, where she was learning about the theatre business. She began her career in 2013 as an assistant production designer for Sabu Cyril’s Bollywood film “Krish 3.” She was employed as an associate art director for the 2016 Tamil movie “Iru Mugan.” She played her first acting role in the 2017 Telugu film “Hello (2017)”.
She made her first Tamil appearance in the 2019 movie Hero. Marakkar: Arabikadalinte Simham (2020), her debut movie, will be in Malayalam.
As Sabu Cyril’s assistant production designer in the 2013 Hindi film Krrish 3, Kalyani made her acting debut (2013). She provided support to the art director while working on the 2016 Tamil movie Iru Mugan (2016). She debuted in the movie business with the Telugu film Hello (2017), which she co-starred in with Akhil Akkineni. She received plaudits for her portrayal after the movie’s December 22, 2017, international debut.
Her first film, Varane Avashyamund, was directed by the Malayalam filmmaker Anoop Sathyan. In the science fiction action thriller movie Maanaadu in the Tamil language, she co-starred alongside Silambarasan. Her following film that year was Marakkar: Arabikadalinte Simham in Malayalam. The film received mixed reviews, and it underperformed at the box office. She made an appearance in Hridayam that same year to support Pranav Mohanlal (2022). The second movie in which she appears is the Disney+ Hotstar exclusive Bro Daddy, starring and directed by Prithviraj Sukumaran. It will be directed by Khalid Rahman and will star Tovino Thomas.
