Gurukiran Biography

Gurukiran Education

He was an active student vocalist at St. Aloysius Primary School in the early 1970s. He started working as a singer and keyboardist in orchestras after graduating from Mangalore University with a degree in commerce.

Gurukiran Early Life

Born on October 28 to K Jayaram Shetty and Ratnakanti in Mangalore, Karnataka, he started his career in 1994 as director V. Manohar’s assistant. Hrudaya and Shravya are their two children as a result of his union with Pallavi Guru Kiran.

Gurukiran Career

Gurukiran made his film music directing debut in 1998 with the Upendra-starring and -directed movie A. Because of the movie’s commercial success, Upendra asked him to work on one of his other film projects. Gurukiran provided the music for the 1999 Kannada psychological thriller Upendra, and Upendra wrote the lyrics.

Gurukiran had interests beyond music, though, and he tried his hand at acting in Sandalwood. Gurukiran’s first movie, in which he played the cameraman, was titled Mr. Shanker Bekal. He then had his first important role in Sunil Kumar Desai’s 1993 heist thriller Nishkarsha. Despite his best efforts, he was unable to leave a lasting effect on the performing community.

When he performed the songs Hodi Maga and Bin Ladennu Nan Maava in the Shivarajkumar-starring movie Jogi in 2005, he became well-known. This album’s pre-release sales established a new standard for the Kannada film industry. The 2007 Telugu version of Jogi, Yogi, was directed by V. V. Vinayak and served as his debut work. He wrote the soundtrack for the Telugu film Nagavalli in 2010.

Gurukiran has worked as a judge for a number of singing contests, including ETV Kannada’s Ede Tumbi Haduvenu and Season 2 of Confident Star Singer on Asianet Suvarna. He provided vocals for several popular Kannada movies, most notably for the love song “Kanasina Maratta” from the movie “Banna Bannada Loka.” Gurukiran has received numerous awards for his contributions to the Kannada cinema industry, including the 2011 Karnataka State Film Award for Best Music Director.
