Verdict

Bollywood has been looking at superhit movies from other genres and remaking them; this situation has occurred rather frequently recently. Bollywood has recently reproduced a lot of movies, and now it’s time for another one: Selfiee, an official remake of the hugely successful Malayalam movie Driving Licence from 2019. Speaking of the Selfiee, the narrative is set up and the two main characters are introduced in an interesting way at the beginning of the movie.

In keeping with the original version’s sequences, Selfiee’s director Raj Mehta made no changes to the film, which is a positive thing. Despite having everything, the movie doesn’t particularly excite you because many people have previously seen the original version on OTT. The film’s main message may resonate with the Hindi audience because it is applicable to all cinema fans. Despite the story’s unfinished business, Akshay Kumar and Emran Hashmi keep you firmly seated.

Emran Hashmi as Om Prakash does a brilliant job as we have seen him mostly in romantic films but this middle father role is quite new to him and he effortlessly pulled it off, Nushrratt Bharuccha, and Diana Penty does their part well as they don’t have much screen time to perform, and the rest of the cast did their best. Akshay Kumar has superstar Vijay Kumar have done a brilliant job as his energy levels are just brilliant.

In some ways, Raj Mehta faithfully follows the original script; nonetheless, he went a little too far in highlighting Vijay Kumar’s star power in the movie. Although Selfiee is technically sound and has good music by Azeem Dayani, Rajeev Ravi’s cinematography elevated the film to a higher level.

Overall, Selfiee is a genuine remake and a movie that everyone should see.
