Verdict

Venkatesh and Rana are this series’ main USPs; Venkatesh is known for family films, but this is the first time he has played a role that has never been seen before, and that is what caught the audience’s attention. We can see Rana’s world-building, his family life, and how much he despises his father Naga in the first two episodes, which piques our curiosity in the series’ brilliant premises that gradually draw you in.

The proper amount of drama makes you interested in the plot until his father Naga, played by Venkatesh, is released from prison. Despite the somewhat slow narration, you will be able to relate to what is going on screen. The show is a hybrid of several genres; it begins as an action-crime show before switching to a family drama. The series’ positive aspects include the competition between father and son, the fact that Rana Naidu has emotions despite being a criminal, his attempts to make up for his misdeeds, and the lack of thrills and cliffhangers in favour of human nature.

A show-stopper We all know how talented an actor Venkatesh is, but this grey persona is quite new to him, and he represented it smoothly. He did a fantastic job as Naga. Although there isn’t much of a problem in performing Rana, Survin Chawla, Ashish Vidywarthi, Sushant Singh, Gaurav Chopra, and others performed a good job in their roles.

The novel was excellently translated for an Indian audience by Karan Anshuman and Suparn Varma, but it appears that they developed this series for a Hindi audience by using well-known Telugu actors; nevertheless, the Telugu dubbing was terrible, and they should have shot the series in both Telugu and Hindi. Yet, they were able to keep the audience interested.

The remainder of the technical team fared well, Jayakrishna Gummadi’s photography is solid, Jhon Stewart Eduri’s music is the series’ plus point, and Rana Naidu looks excellent technically.

Rana Naidu is an overall action-filled emotional drama.

Plus Points:

  • Venkatesh
  • Rana
