Kalyan Ram was born on July 5, 1978 in Hyderabad, Telangana, India, into a well-known Nandamuri family in the Telugu film business. Cancer is his astrological sign. Kalyan Ram enrolled at the Illinois Institute of Technology in Chicago, Illinois, to earn a Master of Science degree (M.Sc.). He then underwent acting classes to strengthen his acting abilities.
Kalyan Ram made his acting debut in 2003 with the Ramoji Rao-produced film Toli Choopulone. Abhimanyu (2004), directed by Ashwini Dutt, was his next film. Two early failures in his film career did not deter him. In 2005, he founded his own company, N.T.R. Arts, named after his legendary grandfather NTR, and directed and produced the film Athanokkade. Kalyan Ram astonished both the public and the film industry with this flick. It did well at the box office.
