He made his acting debut as Vijay Singh opposite Neelam Kothari in the 1987 Hindi movie “Aag Hi Aag,” and he soon gained popularity as a performer. In an interview, he discussed how he managed to land his first movie job.
He rose to fame in India by appearing in movies like “Paap Ki Duniya” (1988), “Gunahon Ka Faisla” (1988), “Tezaab” (1988), and “Aankhen” (1988). Beginning in the 1990s, he was offered supporting parts in Hindi movies. He had a period in his life when he was jobless for a while. Following that, he began getting casting calls from Bangladeshi film companies. After accepting the offer, he eventually appeared in movies like “Meyerao Manush” (1990), “Shami Keno Asami” (1997), and “Prem Korechi Besh Korechi” (2001). These films helped him become a household name in his native Bangladesh.
He continued to work in Hindi film, playing supporting parts in movies like “Jwalamukhi,” “Yeh Hai Mumbai Meri Jaan,” “Tirchhi Topiwale,” and “Kaun Rokega Mujhe” (2000). After becoming established in Bangladesh’s film business, he turned his focus to Bollywood. He then made appearances in several Hindi movies, such as Elaan (2005), Apna Sapna Money Money (2006), Om Shanti Om (2007), and De Dana Dan.
