The music video for his 2011 hit track “Why this Kolaveri Di” was the first from the Indian subcontinent to surpass 100 million views on YouTube. The production of his films is handled by Wunderbar Films. In addition to the Best Actor award he already earned, his movie Visaranai, for which he also acted as producer, also received a national honor. He has received no less than seven Filmfare Awards honors.

He occasionally goes into the studio to record music, usually for his own movies. Yuvan Shankar Raja, a musician, introduced him to lead vocalist and songwriter Pudhukottaiyilirundhu Saravanan. He sang in Selvaraghavan’s Mayakkam Enna and Aayirathil Oruvan, the former of which introduced him and his wife Aishwarya Rajinikanth.

The song “Why this Kolaveri Di” from the soundtrack of Aishwarya R. Rao’s debut feature film debuted on YouTube in 2011. The music video for this song is the most well-liked one in India. He sang the songs “No Problem” and “Thikka” for the soundtracks of the Telugu and Kannada movies Kannada Vajrakaya and Thikka, respectively.
