Gajraj Rao Early Life
Gajraj Rao, 51, was born in the Indian state of Rajasthan’s capital city of Dungarpur.
Despite being born in Rajasthan, he was reared in Delhi. He grew up in poverty because of his parents’ lack of means. His father was employed by the Indian Railways. Two sons were born as a consequence of the union of Gajraj and Sanjana Rao. His oldest child is majoring in graphic design.

He finished high school at the age of 16 and joined the acting troupe Act One, where he met fellow performers Manoj Bajpayee and Ashish Vidyarthi.
He had to balance performance with other odd jobs when he first began out in order to make ends meet. His first position following graduation was at Iqbal Tailors in Delhi. Later, he was given a position at a clothes manufacturing by a buddy. He started writing for magazines like Navbharat and Hindustan Times since he had a knack for it. He was offered the opportunity to write anchor scripts for the Doordarshan network quite rapidly. He met Indian TV producer Siddhartha Basu while writing plays, and Basu offered him a position on a programme that primarily relied on audience engagement. He had a life-changing encounter with Bollywood writer and director Pradeep Sarkar. He initially worked alongside Pradeep Sarkar in the commercial film business before following him to Mumbai. Later, another friend, Tigmanshu Dhulia, introduced him to the film’s director, Shekhar Kapur. He was given the opportunity to play Ashok Chand Thakur in Shekhar’s 1994 film “Bandit Queen.”
In 2003, he and Subrat Ray co-founded the commercial production firm known as Code Red Films. Gajraj is an accomplished actor and director who has contributed to many memorable commercials. His company has created advertisements for well-known brands like Maruti Suzuki, Samsung, Cadbury, the Reliance Foundation, HUL, McDonald’s, Flipkart, and Procter & Gamble.
His production firm, Code Red Films, has received recognition both domestically and abroad after taking home awards at festivals including Adfest Asia, Promax Singapore, The Cup, New York Festivals, and Asia Pacific Advertising. In various Bollywood films, including Dil Se (1998), Aks (2001), Dil Hai Tumhaara (2002), Black Friday (2007), and Aamir, he had a supporting part (2007, as Aamir).
In the 2015 season of the Hindi web series Bang Baaja Baaraat, he made his acting debut as Murli Prasad Sharma. He appeared as an actor in numerous web series on the YouTube channel “TVF,” including “A Day With R D Sharma” (2016), “F.A.T.H.E.R.S.” (2017), “Tech Conversations with Dad” (2018), and “TVF Tripling Season 2.” (2019). He became famous with the 2018 Bollywood movie “Badhaai Ho.”
