After graduating from Delhi’s Loreto Convent School, she pursued a history undergraduate degree at Lady Sriram College. After receiving her degree, she enrolled at the National Institute of Fashion Technology for a six-month fashion design course. Gauri’s passion for art began when she was a young child and has never subsided.

Gauri was born on October 8, 1970 (she is now 48 years old) in New Delhi, India. She was raised in a fairly structured environment because her father was in the military. Hindus make up Gauri’s parents. She was a child of Savita Chibber and the late Colonel (Army) Ramesh Chandra Chhibber. Her brother is Vikrant Chibber. Gauri met Bollywood icon, Shah Rukh Khan, for the first time when she was 14 years old. On October 25, 1991, after dating him for seven years, she was married to Shah Rukh.

In 2004 with the release of “Main Hoon Na,” Gauri made her producing debut. The movie was the second-highest earner of the year due to its phenomenal box office performance. The movie production company Red Chillies Entertainment is co-owned by Gauri and her husband. She later went on to direct films like “Happy New Year” and “Om Shanti Om.” She also made a brief appearance in each movie. In 2016, Gauri’s “Cocktails and Dreams” line for Satya Paul was made available.
She took up the profession as a hobby while decorating the interior of her home, which she called “Mannat.” She started working with interior designer Sussane Khan when they first met in 2010. In 2011, Gauri and Sussane Khan established “The Charcoal Project.” She consequently opened The Design Cell, a store for interior design, in Mumbai in 2014. She is represented in the store along with other contemporary Indian furniture designers. She launched her own design studio, Gauri Khan Designs, the following year, in 2017.
