Janani Iyer graduated from Chennai’s Saveetha Engineering College with a B.E. in Computer Science/Engineering after attending DAV Gopalapuram School.
Janani Iyer Early Life
Janani was born in Kathivakkam, a district of Chennai. She finished her undergraduate studies and was accepted to Wollongong University in Australia. She gave up her academic aspirations in favour of joining the cast of Avan Ivan.
Janani Iyer is descended from a distinguished Hindu Brahmin family. She and her family are currently residing in Chennai, Tamil Nadu. She stated that the two share nothing more than their friendship and denied rumours that she had feelings for actor Atharvaa.

After receiving her degree, she tried modelling and was eventually featured in more than 150 TV ads in just her own state. However, Janani stated that she had always hoped to work in the industry and that it was her “passion in life.” She was a model who appeared in the 2009 film Thiru Thiru Thuru Thuru, and in Gautham Menon’s Vinnaithaandi Varuvaayaa, she served as K. S. Ravikumar’s assistant director (2011). The part for which Samantha had originally hired Vinnaithaandi Varuvaayaa was now played by Samantha.
On the advice of filmmaker A. L. Vijay, Janani went to an audition for director Bala, who was looking for a Tamil-speaking newcomer for the main female role in his film project, Avan Ivan, in the early 2010s (2011). After seeing her perform at the audition, Bala claimed that she “fits into the role” and hired her for the part. In the comedy-drama movie opposite Vishal, Iyer played an innocent police officer, and the critics applauded his performance. In her next movie, Paagan (2013), she acted opposite Srikanth. “Janani Iyer looks stunning and it is a relief to watch a Tamil girl speaking in her own voice,” gushed Sify’s critic. Her debut films in Malayalam and Bollywood, 3 Dots, were both critical and financial failures.
She and Ashok Selvan co-starred in the critically acclaimed and unexpectedly financially successful 2014 crime thriller Thegidi. One reviewer for IndiaGlitz.com said that Janani Iyer “is adorable and executes her part beautifully as Madhu the naive girl.” She appeared in movies like 3 Dots (2013) with Kunchacko Boban, 7th Day (2014) with Prithviraj, and Koothara (2014) with Mohanlal and Bharath while she awaited larger prospects in Tamil.
She appeared in two movies with Asif Ali: Mosayile Kuthira Meenukal (2014) and Ithu Thaanda Police (2016). (2016). Around the same period, the Malayalam movie Edison Photos, starring Nivin Pauly, was canceled. Janani made two Tamil cinema appearances in 2017: in the mystery movie Adhe Kangal and the horror comedy Balloon. The following year saw the long-delayed Vidhi Madhi Ultaa’s theatrical debut, but it was a box office disaster. She appeared on the second season of Kamal Haasan’s reality series Bigg Boss Tamil 2, which aired on Star Vijay in 2018.
