Anurag Basu gave her the main role in his upcoming movie Gangster after he saw her in a cafe in Mumbai in September 2005. The movie did well at the box office. She then got a part in the movie Woh Lamhe.
She was in the movies Life in a Metro and Shakalaka Boom Boom the following year, in 2007. After that, she was in the 2008 movie Fashion, for which she won both the Filmfare and the National Film Awards for Best Supporting Actress. She has won many other awards besides the three National Film Awards and the four Filmfare Awards.

Kangana Ranaut has been in the news more for the controversies that have been going on around her than for her new movies. She is producing the movie “Tiku Weds Sheru,” in which Nawazuddin Siddiqui plays the main character, and directing “Emergency,” in which she plays the late Indira Gandhi. We hope that the actress does better with her next movie in the coming years. The makers are still thinking about making another movie called “Sita: The Incarnation,” but they haven’t said for sure yet.
