Sen Sharma’s maternal grandfather Chidananda Dasgupta was a writer, educator, scholar, and cinema critic in addition to being a co-founder of the Calcutta Cinema Society. Konkona Sen Sharma Career

Before making her adult playing debut in the Bengali thriller Ek Je Aachhe Kanya, Konkana Sen Sharma made her acting debut as a child actress in the 1983 film Indira (2000). She originally came to prominence in the 2002 English-language film Mr. and Mrs. Iyer, which was directed by her mother. For her performance in the film, she received the National Film Award for Best Actress.

In 2009, she starred in the little funded English-language film The President Is Coming, which received generally positive reviews. Nikhat Kazmi from The Times of India stated, “Performance-wise, it’s the stuffy and complex-ridden Ms. Sen Sharma who walks away with honours and chuckles even as the film has a healthy giggle at the desi self.”

Sen Sharma then co-starred in Zoya Akhtar’s Luck by Chance alongside Farhan Akhtar.

After the film’s release, the majority of critics praised her performance even though its box office result was just average. Wake Up Sid, a comedy-drama about a coming-of-age starring Ranbir Kapoor and directed by Sen Sharma, was released in 2009. People loved her acting when the movie first came out and received extremely great reviews. Taran Adarsh of Bollywood Hungama claims “The best part is that Sen Sharma comes off as entirely natural, and she makes it seem simple.

This extraordinary performer gives yet another superb performance!” The New York Times reports “Ms. Sharma has developed a specialisation in writing independent, urban women with both personal and professional aspirations like Aisha. The movie’s first-time director, Mr. Mukerji, did well to let her take the lead because her Aisha is a nuanced, believable, and ambitious character.”

In 2010, Konkana Sen Sharma acted in two movies: Ashwani Dheer’s comedy Atithi Tum Kab Jaoge, in which she co-starred with Ajay Devgan and Paresh Rawal, and Neeraj Pathak’s Right Yaa Wrong, in which she played a lawyer. She has finished filming for the comedies Sunglass, starring Rituparno Ghosh, and Mirch, starring Vinay Shukla.
