In 1996, Madhavan began his career as a model. His first job as a model was for an ad for talcum powder, which paid him Rs. 100. After that, he made guest appearances on TV shows like “Yule Love Stories,” “Banegi Apni Baat,” and “Ghar Jamai.” Madhavan’s first movie in Bollywood was “Rehnaa Hai Terre Dil Mein,” which came out in 2001. He had small roles in three big hits in a row: “Rang De Basanti” in 2006, “Guru” in 2007 and “3 Idiots” in 2008.
In the 2011 romantic comedy “Tanu Weds Manu,” he played the main character. At the box office, both the movie and he did well. After that, he took three years off from acting before going back to Hollywood. He played the role of Manoj “Manu” Sharma in the 2015 movie “Tanu Weds Manu Returns.”
