Raai Laxmi Early Life
Ram Raibagi and Manjula Raibagi welcomed Raai Lakshmi into the world on May 5, 1989 in Belgaum, Karnataka. She is a proud S.S.K. Kshatriya Samaj caste member and a native of Belgaum.
Raai Laxmi Career
Laxmi made her film debut in the Tamil movie Karka Kasadara in 2005 after director R. V. Udayakumar saw her in the Kannada short film Valmiki. Since then, she has appeared in more Tamil films such as the comedy Kundakka Mandakka (2005) starring R. Parthiban, the action-masala movie Dharmapuri (2006) helmed by Perarasu, and the drama romantic Nenjai Thodu (2007).
In 2008, when she acted as herself in the drama Velli Thirai and Jeeva’s action thriller Dhaam Dhoom, her career began to take a more serious turn. The critics praised her portrayal of a lawyer in the latter. In their evaluation, Behindwoods stated that Raai Lakshmi “sizzles even as she is intended to play the court professional who is embroiled in the web of importing drugs.”
She was a Filmfare Award nominee for Best Supporting Actress, and she really took home the prize! She made her Malayalam film debut in 2007’s Rock & Roll with Mohanlal. It was followed by hits like Annan Thambi (2009), 2 Harihar Nagar (2009), Evidam Swargamanu (2009) (with Mohanlal), and Chattambinadu (2009) (against Mammootty). She appeared in the Tamil films Muthirai, Vaamanan, and Naan Avanillai 2 in 2009. In the movie, Vaamananshe played a gorgeous supermodel. In 2010, she had three movie appearances. She only made an appearance for the songs in two of them, Ghost House Inn and Pen Singam, while in the third, Irumbukkottai Murattu Singam, she took on the role of a cowgirl.
The first Raai Lakshmi movie to be released in 2011 did extremely well at the box office: Christian Brothers. Her two subsequent films, Mankatha, an action thriller starring Ajith Kumar, and Kanchana, a comedy-horror movie, were both made by Tamil filmmakers. Despite her portrayal of the villain, the critics liked the film. Each movie enjoyed tremendous commercial success. She was chosen for the upcoming Kannada adaption Kalpana as a result of her performance in Kanchana.
