He first founded Laser, India’s leading toothbrush manufacturer, which presently produces 6 million brushes each month for the most well-known brands on the market. He is also recognized for bringing cable TV to the nation in 1981. His Tele-Shopping Network (TSN) was a pioneer in online retail in India.
He then went in search of the United Studios, a famous South Asian film studio. As a holding company for his several film production firms, video game studio, and media production facilities, Screwvala founded the UTV Group in 1990. When The Walt Disney Company paid Rs. 118.98 crores for a 15% stake in UTV Global Broadcasting in 2008, it became the largest foreign investor in India.
