Sarathkumar Ramanathan attended Rajah Muthiah High School in Chennai, Tamil Nadu, after moving there with his family from Delhi. At the Indian Institute of Technology Madras Central School in Chennai, he continued his education. St. Patrick’s Anglo-Indian Higher Secondary School in Chennai served as his final educational stop, and there he received an honors diploma.

He first studied at Chennai’s Loyola College before transferring to The New College to complete his bachelor’s degree in mathematics. He participated in numerous sporting events and played football, cricket, and hockey while on the sports teams at his high school and university. He took part in the 1970 Republic Day parade as an Air Wing member of the National Cadet Corps (NCC).

Sarathkumar received a Bachelor of Science from The New College in Chennai. After completing his degree, he started working in the journalistic industry. He promptly left his job to devote himself to acting.

He made his film debut in 1986 with the Telugu movie Samajamlo Sthree. He made his Tamil film debut a few years later in the movie Kan Simittum Neram. He played many different parts in the movie, including the producer. After making his acting debut in the 1990 Tamil film Pulan Visaranai, his career took off. For his part in this movie, he was named Best Villain at the box office.

Sarathkumar is an Indian actor, producer, writer, and director. He began his acting career in 1986 with the Telugu movie Samajamlo Sthree and continued for nearly three decades. The four most widely used languages in southern India are Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, and Malayalam, in which Sarathkumar has acted.

A few of the movies in which he has appeared include Pulan Visaranai (1990), Samundi (1992), Surya Vamsam (1997), Natpukaaga (1998), Pazhassi Raja (2009), Muni 2: Kanchana (2011), and Raajakumara (2017). A few of Sarathkumar’s movies include Kan Simittum Neram (2007), Kannamoochi Yenada (2007), Paambhu Sattai (2015), Indu Enna Maayam (2015), Pulivaal (2014), and Indu Enna Maayam (2015). R. Sarathkumar’s political career officially began in 1996 when he joined the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam. He ran for the Tamil Nadu city of Tirunelveli in the 1998 Lok Sabha elections. He and his second wife, Raadhika, eventually switched parties and supported the AIADMK in the 2006 Assembly elections after he was chosen to serve in the Rajya Sabha in July 2001. He left the AIADMK in November 2006, citing the need for “undivided focus” in his role as president of the South Indian Artistes’ Association.
