Her father was a member of the Indian Air Force, therefore the family constantly relocated to different places like Kerala, Pathankot, Pune, and Allahabad. She was born on April 23, 1974, in Chandigarh, India. She was raised in the Indian state of Kerala’s Valanchery, in the Malappuram district. She has always had a love for the runway and the stage. She was chosen for the first season of the contentious reality series Bigg Boss Malayalam, which is hosted by Mohanlal, as a result of her huge acting career.
She was nurtured in a Hindu middle-class home and was born to Malayali parents. Her father, T. V. Narayanankutti, was a flight lieutenant in the Air Force, and her mother, Sarada Menon, is a stay-at-home mother. She is related to popular Malayalam actor Anoop Menon. Bobby Bhonsle, an actor and writer, and Shweta were married in 2004; unfortunately, their union did not endure, and they separated in 2007. She then married writer Sreevalsan Menon on June 18, 2011, and the couple had a daughter named Sabaina Menon in 2012.

She attended a variety of schools because of her father’s many moves, one of which was Kendriya Vidyalaya No. 1, East Hill, Kozhikode, Kerala. In the 1991 Malayalam movie Anaswaram, Catherine was her debut on-screen persona. During that period, she participated in a number of pageants and eventually won the Miss Bangalore title.
Shweta finished in second place in the 1994 Miss India competition, just behind the winner Sushmita Sen and the first runner-up Aishwarya Rai. She made history later that year when she became the first female Gladrags Super Model. She was frequently asked to walk with famous models after that. She has even overseen many productions that feature them.
Among the reality shows she participated in were Dancing Queen (2008), Deal or No Deal (2010) (with her father), and Star Challenge (2015).
