Sonu Sood completed his education in the Indian province of Punjab. After finishing his degree, he went to work in his dad’s showroom. Nagpur University is where Sonu Sood earned his engineering degree. Only 5,500 Indian Rupees (roughly USD $8) were in his wallet for his modelling trip to Mumbai. Due to early financial difficulties, he joined a private firm in Mumbai and began working for a meagre salary of 4,500 rupees per month.

In 1999, with the release of films like Kallazhagar and Nenjinile, Sood was introduced to Tamil cinema. After that, he had a villainous role in the 2000 Telugu film Hands Up! In 2001, he made his debut for Majunu. His first role in a Hindi film was as Bhagat Singh in Shaheed-E-Azam (2002).

Mani Ratnam’s 2004 film Yuva and 2005 film Aashiq Banaya Aapne catapulted Sood to stardom in the role of Abhishek Bachchan’s sibling. Super, his breakout film in Tollywood, was released in 2005, drawing more attention to him. Nagarjuna also starred in the film; his character was a high-tech burglar.

Sood’s first English-language film role was in Rockin’ Meera (2017). He also made a cameo in the Chinese film Xuanzang. His debut acting appearance was in the 2009 movie Arundhati, playing the character of Pasupathy. After the success of his first Tollywood film, Arundhati, he was cast as Rajkumar Sujamal in Ashutosh Gowariker’s Indian epic blockbuster Jodha Akbar.

While appearing opposite Ravi Teja in Anjaneyulu in 2009, he played the part of gangster Bada. In the second half of 2009, he appeared in the Telugu movie Ek Niranjan as the film’s villain. He co-starred with Salman Khan as the film’s major antagonist in Abhinav Kashyap’s Dabangg (2010).
