Suraj Venjaramoodu (born Suraj Vasudevan on June 30, 1976) is a popular Indian actor, comedian, impressionist, and television host who works primarily in Malayalam cinema and media. He has appeared in almost 250 films. He played comedic roles in a number of films during the 2000s and into the middle of the 2010s, earning him three nominations for and one win of the Kerala State Film Award for Best Comedian (2009, 2010, 2013).

In his later years as an actor, he began to try new things, and his efforts paid off with prominent and supporting roles. Suraj won the 2014 National Film Award for Best Actor for his starring performance in Perariyathavar. At the 61st National Film Awards, he won the award for Best Actor for his work in the film Perariyathavar, which was directed by Dr. Biju. The film followed a father and son who both work for the local government as they face various obstacles. Jury chairman and acclaimed filmmaker Saeed Mirza praised Suraj’s role as a municipal sweeper, saying, “Suraj’s performance [in the movie] is delightfully respectable.” Even though Suraj shines well in comedic roles, he totally carried off the role of a restrained man in this film.
