On September 3, 1976, actor Vivek Oberoi was born in Hyderabad, India (he would be 42 years old as of 2018). He was given the name Vivek Anand at birth because he was inspired by the life and teachings of the Hindu monk Swami Vivekananda. He changed his name to Vivek when he chose to pursue a career in movies because he believed that romantic on-screen antics would be insulting to the monk’s name. Vivek excelled in numerous sports while still in school. He used to be an enthusiastic sportsman who played everything from cricket and football to hockey and table tennis. He even played hockey for his school’s team and represented the country at both the state and national levels.
