On May 30, 1955, in Mumbai, Paresh Rawal, now 63 years old, was born to his father Dahyalal Rawal. His family has a reputation for being revered Gujarati Nagar Brahmins. In 1979, he married actress and former Miss India Swaroop Sampat. Paresh’s sons include Aditya and Anirudh.

Paresh started acting in Gujarati theatre after completing his education in 1974, playing in plays like “Dear Father,” which won appreciation from a large audience. He decided to follow the Indian film industry after making his acting debut in the 1984 film Holi. He made a supporting appearance in the movie “Arjun” the next year, in 1985. But “Naam,” a 1986 blockbuster, launched him into the spotlight. He received significant acclaim in 1993 for his performance as Vallabhbhai Patel, a freedom fighter, in the movie Sardar.

In movies like “Kabzaa,” “King Uncle,” “Ram Lakhan,” “Daud,” “Baazi,” and many others during the 1980s and 1990s, he portrayed the antagonistic lead. He has a dual role in the movie “Andaz Apna Apna.”

He shot to stardom following the release of the 2000 movie “Hera Pheri,” in which he portrayed the compassionate but gullible Marathi landowner Baburao Ganpatrao Apte. The tragic comedy that infuses the plot and his impeccable comedic timing are both responsible for the movie’s enormous success. He also won the “Filmfare Best Comedian Award” for this movie. Following this, he started to get offers to portray the lead or main role in movies by renowned directors.

He made his television debut on “Bante Bighadte” on Doordarshan in 1984 and immediately rose to fame in India. In addition to his work as an actor, Paresh is a talented producer who has worked on hit dramas including “Teen Bahuraaniyaan,” which airs on Zee TV, “Main Aisi Kyunn Hoon,” which airs on Sahara One, and “Laagi Tujhse Lagan,” which airs on the Colors channel.
