Series Verdict

A great deal of emotional ferocity is necessary for vengeance-themed movies and television shows to connect with audiences. No matter how well-produced or compelling a film or television programme is, it won’t appeal to viewers if the conflict doesn’t emotionally connect with them. In programmes like Country Mafia, the vitality required to connect with the audience is absent. The show’s emotional arcs as a whole fall flat, but some scenes in various episodes have a nice aesthetic and are well-written. Only a small number of episodes, though, will consistently get you curious about what happens next.

Ravi Kishan, who played Babban Rai, is without a doubt the series’ best performer. He has a great screen presence, and his ruthless character is superbly crafted. He constantly accepts the challenge of taking on the role of the villain. The performance by Anshumaan Pushkar was also great. Soundarya Sharma doesn’t do anything to stand out in her role as Nannu. Anita Raj goes way over the top in some instances while genuinely holding her own in others. When given the chance, Satish Kaushik performed the part satisfactorily. Every single other performer did a great job of meshing with the overall plot of the story.

Technically speaking, Country Mafia is roughly on par. Although this show has some visually stunning moments, they could benefit from a strong background score to elevate them. Most of the time, the cinematography is good, but there are a few unnecessary murky scenes. Siddiqui Gaus’ editing is passable, but he might have cut a few scenes to make the series more concise. The quality of the production is subpar.

Shashank Raai, the director, tried to convey a gritty, rural series with a simple plot and many touching moments, but he was unable to establish a strong enough emotional connection with viewers.

In conclusion, Country Mafia is a passable tale of retribution that occasionally has funny moments. You can watch this series in its entirety on Zee5, an online video service.
